the site of the former textile mill at the edge of the historic old core of augsburg is dominated by majestic old trees and a thicket of lush vegetation in serene tranquility, if it wasn‘t for the noise from the central ring road that has been built to the north of it. an urban design competition from the 90‘s addresses this issue, yet simultaneously seeks to destroy all inherent qualities. preservation of the existing natural features requires us to replace the existing urban typologies, question the inadequacies of the local morphologies and seek the creation of, and the integration of augmented feral features into a new and enhanced urban fabric.
